Douglas Fir Tree

Washington State is home to some giant trees, particularly on the Olympic Peninsula.  Although much of the state has been logged, there remain some beautiful forests that visitors can explore.

When you visit La Conner, keep an eye open for the log slice that illustrates not only the size of some of the trees in the area, but also age.  Each ring denotes one season of growth.
